NBA world sleeping on the Spurs

08:06 AM ET 02.16 | Tony Parker conceded recently that the biggest story in the NBA these days is that of Jeremy Lin. Drawing substantially less attention than Lin's rocket-ship ride to untold superstardom, but occurring in plain sight in [Toronto on Wednesday], was this: The boring old Spurs, doing what they do best. The Spurs, forgotten contenders, won their NBA-best ninth in a row. ... After starting 0-5 away from the AT&T Center, the Spurs have steadied to 8-8 on the road, applying increasing pressure to first-place Oklahoma City in the Western Conference. "We've won nine in a row," [Tony Parker] said of the Spurs' longest win streak since December 2010. "If nobody talks about it, that's fine. We'll keep playing good basketball."

Think its more the fact that we all are expecting another injury

Yeah bro... we all know they are old and will get hurt or get swept by a younger faster team in the playoffs like Memphis did to them last year that's why nobody cares. It's like a grandma training for a marathon... you know it's over before it even started. I write this with much ado to the Celtics... row row row your boat!

Right...not enough depth or athleticism to keep pace with the young spry legs of Lob City, The Thunder, The Grizz or The Nuggets in their own conference

1 and done will be the motto for this year's Spurs playoff run

Defense wins rings ask Tyson Chandler. Pop is smart to give Danny MF Green some burn in SA.

The Spurs are getting some quality play from some young, underrated players right now - Tiago Splitter, Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. Mix that in with a career year by Tony Parker, the experience and little bit that Manu and TD still have in the tank and Coach Pop, the Spurs might be able to catch lightning in a bottle for the second time coming off of a lockout. Watch out for them come playoff time.

Agree... Anyone underestimating the Spurs do so at their own peril.

Nobody is sleeping on the Spurs. Everybody knows there going to win games and make the playoffs. Their just so boring nobody cares to talk about them.

February 16, 2012  10:39 AM ET

Spurs are no news, sorry we seen this movie before. They play well to then collapse in the playoffs.
The question is, what round will they go fishing?

Which is exactly what Parker said in the extended comments. They aren't hanging their hat on a great streak right now. They understand there are more important games later to come. But for a team who was as horrible as they were on the road to start the season, this is a semi-hopeful sign.

Green has indeed looked impressive at times.

It's a mistake. Just like it is to sleep on the Lakers.

There is no Mamba on the Spurs though...think Manu can still take over a series? Doubt it...they're 1st round bait for a larger shark
