08:09 AM ET 02.16 | There is likely nothing in the NBA handbook about a breakout star making this kind of impact in such a short time, which begs a question. How can you have an All-Star Weekend without the biggest story of the NBA season? That is a question the league is asking and it looks as if Jeremy Lin will make it to Orlando next weekend. According to a source, the NBA is hoping to add Lin to its All-Star lineup by having him participate in the Haier Shooting Stars competition during All-Star Saturday night. The competition features one current NBA player, one current WNBA player and one TNT on-air talent and legend on each team. Lin would be the obvious choice, especially since he has become an overnight sensation.

I'm happy as hell for both Lin and the Knicks.. but adding him to the All Star games in any fashion because he's had 7 good games kind of makes a mockery of the term "All Star" and what it used to stand for

But then once we started letting the fans decide the whole concept became a ridiculous popularity contest anyway so I guess it's jus tthe natural order of things going forward.

Rumor has it they are trying to add him to the shaq vs chuck revamped rookie vs sophmore game. Eventhough the roster they will be drafting from tonight is set they want to add a pick a piece extra for players not on the original list i.e. Lin. Personally I want to see it happen!
