08:05 AM ET 02.17 | Being committed to Christian Ponder reportedly won't keep the Vikings from checking out this year's quarterback crop. "I know we're very confident in Christian, but if one of those quarterbacks is too good to pass up, you also have to weight that in, too," Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman said. "But we're very, very confident in what Christian Ponder brings." ... Spielman on being able to trade the No. 3 overall pick now as opposed to past years: "I think with the new CBA [collective bargaining agreement] and the rookie pool, it makes it a lot easier to make trades when you're in the top three because before, no one wanted to come up there because of the financial commitment."

I'm sure that #3 pick is worth something, but, well, don't the Vikings really need some good players?

There's a shocker. The guy is a scrub and they SHOULD be looking into other options. Green Bay has arguably the best quaterback in football and they are monitoring their quarterback situation. Why wouldn't a team with a crap quarterback do the same thing?

One more thing, unless they're flat-out wowed by a trade package, they shoudn't trade out of that #3 spot. Blackmon, Kalil, Claiborne would all be fantastic additions, no matter which route they take. They need to get at least one of the three, though. They should be trying to trade back into the first so they get more talent. Maybe take Kalil or Claiborne and then trade back into the first round to get Michael Floyd.

Blackmon would make sense at #3, he would instantly become Ponder's BFF

What he means is.............If for some crazy reason Luck or RGIII come available at #3........Good bye Ponder

Could be the first intriguing spot in the draft. I don't think there is anyway Minny takes Griffin if Kalil is still there, but if the Rams stay at 2 and draft Kalil (which they should if they don't trade), then what do the Vikes do? Griffin, Claiborne, Blackmon... very interesting.,

Griffin, and then wait for those calls that will be flooding in from other teams.
It could be a heist. Might get more on draft day than to trade that pick now.

Of course they are looking and why not. Ponder didn't exactly light up the scoreboard. Yes he needs work and didn't get a lot of help in the shortened off season, but if he ain't the guy, next year can be another long one for the Vikes who need a lot.

I think if Griffin was available at three, the Vikes take him. He will be gone at two however or one.

The big question, and one which affects the value of the Vikings pick at #3, is what will the Lambs do with their #2 pick? I don't think they take RG3, so he remains a possible for the Vikings until draft day. On the other hand, if St. Loo trades the pick to someone like the Skins, that reduces the value of the #3 pick, as Danny would certainly go for the best QB available.

Rams can rape the Skins for the #2 pick.
