09:28 AM ET 02.18 | Referring to himself as a "fighter," Illinois coach Bruce Weber vowed he hasn't waved a white flag of surrender and neither have his players despite the team's steep decline and his recent critical postgame self-analysis. "By no means would I ever think our season was over or that I've given up on anybody," Weber said. "In fact, it's the other way."

Conference tournaments allow for bottom dweller hopes...and many times throw a wrench in tournament selection committee's plans.

If you don't want such heresy, do away with conference tournaments.

100% agree. I'd personally do away with the conference tourneys, but that won't happen because of $$$$$. At the very least though, I'd give the automatic bid to the regular season champ.
