Manning in the MNF booth?

08:02 AM ET 02.20 | At the very least, if Monday Night Football seeks a three-man booth, there is an opening. Jon Gruden is the benefactor of [Ron Jaworski's] demise, at least on the surface. The plan, or should we say the plan for now, is for Gruden to be the star of a two-man booth. The other seat is occupied by Mike Tirico, the play-by-play man. Yet if a certain thing happens, the third chair, once occupied by Jaworski, might not be cold for long. For if Peyton Manning decides to call it quits, not return to football for the 2012 season, ESPN has positioned itself perfectly to lure the Indy legend to Bristol. If Manning wants to do TV next season, ESPN is our odds-on favorite to get him.

Manning for SNL

He has a lot of experience, but is he any good at commenting on games in a manner that is understandable by the masses?

February 20, 2012  08:51 AM ET

Now he is retiring? I can't wait for all this speculation to be over....

To much drama. Morning Mangler. Have to be in the office four days this week, I might get moody.

Seriously, a guy who wears a pink towel! And matching wrist bands? Totally un-manly.
And besides, Peyton is a girl's name, for god's sake.

February 20, 2012  09:10 AM ET

He has options... We get that.

February 20, 2012  09:11 AM ET

I miss the Tebow threads.

Morning , nothing like the confines of an office to make one moody...

February 20, 2012  09:13 AM ET

Gruden may gesticulate but Manning can articulate.

Try working as a delivery driver if you need excitement in your life.

Tirico can pontificate.

His football knowledge is off the charts and from what I hear, he's funny when he hosts SNL. Could be very interesting. Certainly need a strong personality to minimize Gruden, whom I cannot stand in the booth. www.thelettersproject.org

Gruden, Manning & Favre would be a great announcing team.

February 20, 2012  09:27 AM ET

We know he can do commercials...endlessly!
