Oden's next career

08:07 AM ET 02.21 | Raise your hand if you're tired of hearing that Greg Oden has lost a season to injury. [Frank Brickowski] works as a representative for the NBA Players Association, and he's made it a point over the years not only to manage his assigned geographic region, but also make himself available to retired players and players struggling with recovery from injury. Said Brickowski on Oden: "I just want to hug the guy." ... Maybe he teaches others. Maybe he coaches children. Maybe he ends up like Brickowski someday, with his telephone ringing and a troubled athlete on the other end of the line. Maybe he tries to come back and finish this story in another way. Maybe he makes good on his childhood dream -- and becomes a dentist.

"Maybe he makes good on his childhood dream -- and becomes a dentist."
I think that ship sailed when he dropped out of college after 1 year.

He's been through the 1st rookie contract (overall #1 = millions pal) and now another 1.5 mil (lucky for Blazers for renog.). Its seems as though you don't at all feel bad for the Blazers, they're the ones gettin rob pal. Jeez....all putzs think alike!

A guy with Greg Oden's talent will always have work. You van't teach 7 feet tall. Any WALMART or supermarket would be extremely happy to employ him. He could retrieve items from those hard to reach top shelves.

Diaper retrieval in Aisle 7, Greg Oden to aisle 7.....

Oden never gets to fullfill his dreams.... just like so many of us. The only difference between him and us is that he got paid millions while sitting there. He is set for life and can go finish school if he wants or just stay home in a nice house and surf the internet.

biggest.....bust.....ever !!!

and what's all this "next career" crap? He doesn't have a career now.

Career: an occupation or a profession that usually involves special training or formal education, and is considered to be a person???s lifework. Doesn't take a lot of special training to not play basketball for almost 2 years-- doesn't take formal education, he came out after one year at OSU--life work? bench warmer?

Oden's body not being up to the rigors of professional basketball is unfortunate for all parties involved.

Allen Iverson being broke after all the money HE made is a travesty.

Evidence the human body is not supposed to be stretched to 7'... I really wish he'd be able to be healthy and have any career in the NBA. I enjoyed watching him when he played at OSU, but since then his legs have just absolutely failed him.
