Re: Manny ... Nothing to see here

08:15 AM ET 02.21 | The A's have given Manny Ramirez a place to land, but just what does he have left? They will pay Ramirez just $20,000 more than the major league minimum salary of $480,000. If he is a bust, it won't be a huge financial disaster. If he is fabulously great, he will be vastly underpaid. But he isn't going to be fabulously great. ... Logic says Ramirez won't be more powerful or more on top of his game at age 40 -- especially after taking only 17 at-bats last season with Tampa Bay (and accumulating exactly one hit) before announcing his "retirement." And even if Ramirez can find a way back to respectability as a major league slugger, he probably will find another way to get in trouble and be gone, anyway.

"That's how I feel right now about the people who are excited about this Manny Ramirez deal with the A's. They are rubberneckers. And he is the car crash. Or he will be, soon enough."

Well... with that opinion having been expressed by Mark Purdy, I'll dispense with the usual 'Muck Fanny!'

he will need to find a way to over come age, loss of power and bat speed. maybe he could take some "Supplements" to help fight aging. A good vitamin program should solve his problems.

Maybe he has discovered this thing called HGH which is undetectable under current rules and hit like he's 25. ; )

He is only doing this so he can play winterball in the Dominican. Don't expect m,uch at all.

<waiting for Manny to resume being Manny>

the A's are a impredictable team, should be expect anything different from this franchise? they like to develope great pitchers, then trade them like a hot potato, ramirez can't prove that he its really clean, maybe the desire of play the game still there but how can he avoid being in the risk of failing another drug test??? if this thing happen again? best thing to do its,,, just to vanish away!!!!

February 21, 2012  03:03 PM ET

The A's strangely resemble that ownership scheme from 'Major League" Calling Jo-Bu !!!
