Gauthier kept Gill in the dark for 45 minutes

08:24 AM ET 02.21 | Hal Gill, traded by Montreal to Nashville, jokingly admits he should have packed an extra suit, but learning about his trade could have been made easier. Gill had taken part in the Canadiens' Friday morning skate in Buffalo then shared a meal with teammates back at their hotel. It was around 1 p.m. that his phone rang, GM Pierre Gauthier telling him that he'd been traded to a team Gauthier wouldn't yet divulge, presumably awaiting NHL approval of it. "Pierre told me to be ready for it, and it wasn't for 45 minutes or so that I knew it was Nashville," Gill said. "I said: 'Why don't you just wait and tell me all at once instead of keeping me on pins and needles?'" ... Gill finally heard Nashville at nearly 2 p.m.

whatever, this is less than a non-story. It was a good deal for the Habs and it was a good deal for Gill. Other than Stranger (where the hell did he go?) I'm easily the biggest Goats hater here, but c'mon, probably he figured that it was going to get out or something like that, so he figured that he would let Gill know first. As much as I really like Gill as a person, I htink its stupid of him to have put this out to the media, when it seems quite obvious to me that Gauthier was trying to be decent about it.
Either way, like I said, good move for Habs, good move for Gill. Gill's going to look really good in Nashville's system & it'll probably help him cash in come free agency. Meanwhile the Habs got a second rounder & a bit of window dressing.

If y'all want d*i*c*k*-ish moves, how about firing your head coach, then naming your assistant as interim for the remaining half of the season, and then refusing to endorse him when the media jump on the club's back for naming a unilingual english coach. How about having been stupid enough to not realize that it would be an issue?
To me THAT is a **** move...he forced Cunneyworth into being a lame-duck coach for half a season, and its not as if either of them has any shot at being around next season (I hope).

I assume Ted Nolan speaks french, why wasn't he considered as a coach for the Habs. BTW I have no opinion on the habs, but after dismissing Guy and messing this up this bad. I just wonder what is going on here
