08:06 AM ET 02.23 | Tony Romo will no doubt enter the 2012 season again a polarizing figure. Despite his impressive output, Romo still faces a legion of critics determined to make Romo the scapegoat for the team's disappointing 8-8 season. Asked about Romo, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones gave the 31-year-old quarterback a vote of confidence. "We are firmly in the corner that that's not our issue," Jones said Tuesday. "If you're a Cowboy fan, if you're somebody who wants the Cowboys to do well, that ought to be what you're happiest about because if we didn't have a quarterback we would have a real problem. I just believe Tony is as good as anybody.

Please! I'm no fan of his but that team had huge issues on the defensive side of the ball (again). The entire defense is the scapegoat for the 8-8 record.

Translation: We didn't suck enough to get a potential franchise quarterback in the draft, so we've got to stick with Romo for another year.

The NFC East could be anybody. The Giants squeeked into the playoffs. They didn't dominate, although they finished strong, but they were inconsistent at best in the regular season. The Eagles could finish first, or fourth, and there's no way to predict them. And if the Skins get Flynn or somehow end up with RG3, even they could be respectable. 9-7 could take this division, which could be the Cowboys' record.
I'm rootin' and tootin' for ya, Otis. I hate the Giants, and seeing them miss the playoff would be sweet.

The Cowboys could finish ahead of the Skins with me at QB.

I would hate them too if they owned my team in the Super Bowl.

Absolutely correct.
Mind you, there still is plenty of blame to go around for the Cowboys' malaise.

I agree with you there. Garrett isn't the wonderboy that people thought he was. He did make some really boneheaded calls as a head coach. But, hey, look at the positive: at least you didn't have to see Jim "The Statue" Caldwell all year as your favorite team sucked more than they have ever sucked before.

when Garrett took over as HC he spoke about mental toughness being a priority, but so many losses on his watch have been 4th quarter leads blown. That is not mental toughness. then add clock mismanagement and a few other assorted disasters, clearly Garrett has been overwhelmed so far.

You have seen your team play right? You ain't getting RGIII either. Synder and Shanny going to Eff that one up big time. But you can have Colt McCoy after Cleveland signs RGIII.

Tony Romo is a franchise quarterback. Anyone who disagrees either does not like the guy or knows nothing about football. Last season he threw for 31 touchdowns and 4,184 yards. He did this despite an inconsistent offensive line, injury plagued receivers and little help from his running backs (DeMarco Muray only played seven games). The defense could never be relied upon to close out a game, so the pressure to win was always on Romo.
