Pujols objects to Angels marketing push

08:12 AM ET 02.23 | This is not the first, nor will it be the last, case of marketing getting in front of a player's wishes. To the surprise of no one, the Los Angeles Angels have built their marketing efforts around newly acquired slugger Albert Pujols. But one segment of that campaign has run afoul of the player's wishes. The Angels have 20 billboards around Southern California with Pujols pictured in an Angels uniform alongside the Spanish words "El Hombre." Pujols has asked not to be called that in deference to St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Famer Stan Musial, who was referred to as Stan "The Man" during most of his 22-year career. ... "Like I say, I haven't talked to them, but I prefer not to use [El Hombre]," Pujols said Wednesday.

This is a major faux pas by the Angels...Pujols' wishes on this topic have been well known for years now. Maybe they'll have a new campaign calling Albert a "Puta Bandito".

No proof that I've heard of, but he is widely viewed now as most likely being the first prominent baseball player to use hardcore PEDs. Not only did he get huge, but his whole face changed...several writers have voiced their suspicions over the last few years.
