Sharks eye Nash AND Carter, price is staggering

08:23 AM ET 02.23 | The Sharks have in their sights not one, but two blockbuster moves. Not only is Sharks GM Doug Wilson talking to Jackets counterpart Scott Howson about disgruntled RW Rick Nash, league sources told the QMI Agency Wednesday San Jose is also studying a deal for C Jeff Carter. Coming off a 6-3 loss to the Jackets Tuesday, sources say Wilson has discussed the possibility of making a major change before Monday's deadline, but if he wants Nash, the Sharks are going to have to pay. Sources say Howson's asking price from every team in the Nash talks is non-negotiable (at the moment) and gigantic in nature: A No. 1 pick in 2012 NHL entry draft pick; a good player off your roster ... plus the No. 1 prospect in the organization.

For a team that's struggling to say the least, and drops in the playoffs with the best of rosters....this may be foolhardy.
I think if Washington played The Sharks in the final....no one would win

The Sharks are a team that could conceivably pull this off. Their "go-to" players have coughed up at big moments too many times to pretend that anything will be different. The only untouchables would begin with Couture and maybe a few others. get rid of Thornton, Marleau to begin with. Only problem is that Nash and Carter have won squat between them, so you never know what you'll get. Worth the gamble though if your GM Wilson.

The only thing i can see in this one is Nash for Marleau and other parts for San Jose...but Jumbo No Show Joe is not in his prime anymore.

Sharks have no grit, making Nash and Carter - neither of whom is gritty - perfect fits.
Is Sharks ownership aware that the President's Cup and the Stanley Cup are two different things?

He might keep his job if he can get a decent return for Nash and Carter. LA might be the the top bidder for both considering the Carter Richards connection. The Kings aren't getting it done with what they have now so they have make some changes.

Wow, would ya believe, the ultimate Bett-nightmare - Pheonix(Wpg I) vs the Jets(Wpg II), is actually becoming a possibility for the SC final. Vermette will be huge for the Coyotes. Jets still need a rock on defence.
