09:02 AM ET 02.25 | The Rangers are discussing the possibility of placing Sean Avery on re-entry waivers at noon Saturday, the deadline for doing so, in order for the exiled winger to play again in the NHL this season, The Post has learned. If Avery is claimed on re-entry, the Rangers would be hit with a $209,460 salary cap charge for the remainder of the season. If Avery were to go unclaimed, the Rangers would simply put him back on waivers and re-assign him to the AHL Whale after he clears.

Isn't there a limit to how many times a player can be put on waivers in his career? Shouldn't there be?

If the Rangers are the "Big Dog" in the league right now , Avery is their "Willnot"

February 25, 2012  12:10 PM ET

That'd be a big red flag if he gets claimed. From a risk management perspective, there's no up side???

There has got to be no chance a serious contender like Philly throws a rivals garbage into their dressing room......no chance...although it would make for a few good threads here in Fan Nash Nation

There was a report that they wouldnt put him on waivers again cause they're pissed at him....BUT wouldnt they TRY to rid themselves of him ?? Me thinks he'll get claimed this time...imo New Jersey or Philly.
