07:31 AM ET 02.25 | Many fans were angry when video surfaced of Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski dancing with his shirt off at the Patriots after-party following the defeat. Gronkowski, though, said he was just blowing off steam with family and friends and still feels the sting of the loss. "It was a great season overall," he said. "The whole team gave everything they had -- every ounce of sweat. And myself, too, I gave everything I had from the Baltimore game to the N.Y. Giants game. You give every ounce of sweat, and it just happened. I was with my family, my friends -- people I never see. We were just having a fun time together. Obviously the emotions, you don't want to lose that game. You don't play that long, go to the Super Bowl and want to lose."

Hmmm... the combine is happening, free agency is in effect, and we get a story about Gronk blowing off a season's worth of steam.

Yeah, that's about right.

2011 season/superbowl's done-n-over !,......both organizations had post superbowl parties [bands, family, guests, etc.] allready scheduled and paid for[bands,entertainment],......what's all the fuss seeing a 22-yr. old kid having a GREAT time in his life !?........are the papparazzi going to follow gronk to the buffalo nightclubs next ?

(intern is still sorting through which Peyton story to run today)

February 25, 2012  08:28 AM ET

This always was and still is a non story. The Pats fans that were angry are idiots...did you expect the guy to crawl into a hole and not come out until camp next summer?

February 25, 2012  08:31 AM ET

Non story

February 25, 2012  08:31 AM ET

And what was he supposed to do instead? Whip out the black clothes and sit shivah? Only one team was going to walk away from that game a victor.

Bottom line: we all mourn losses in our own manner and who is anybody to pass judgment on how.

February 25, 2012  08:37 AM ET

Its not like he didn't give 100%.
Next story, please. Oh, and, make it about Peyton Manning, RGIII, or Andrew Luck, please. Haven't seen them in ages.

Don't have a problem with blowing off steam, but If he is defending his dancing style and helping other guys take off their shirts, well that just looked a little suspect!!

Agree. The game was over, nothing going to change that.

February 25, 2012  09:07 AM ET

The winners share for an AFC or NFC championship is about $40,000.
The losers share for a player in the Superbowl is around $45,000.
I would be dancing too knowing those checks were in the mail.

February 25, 2012  09:28 AM ET

fans in NE didn't care at all, good for Gronk, season was over and he's 22 years old

February 25, 2012  10:46 AM ET

I'm not aware of any Pats fans being upset with Gronk. This story is totally a media contrived fabrication.

February 25, 2012  11:03 AM ET

Is there any truth that this was a Patriot sponsored party??
