09:10 AM ET 02.25 | We have it on good authority, if things don't work out with the Colts, which is the most likely scenario, the Patriots are definitely on the radar of five-time Pro Bowl player Reggie Wayne. In fact, Peyton Manning's landing spot notwithstanding, the Pats could be at or near the top of Wayne's list

Don't the Pats have enough possession receivers? Reggie has had a great career but I don't think he's the real vertical threat that he once was

He could also land on the moon. At least there when you lose a step, no one notices.

The Patriots need a speed guy, which would stretch the defenses and allow possession guys such as Gronk, Welker and Hernandez to have more space. I think Brandon Lloyd might be a better fit than Wayne.

Exactly. They may be on his radar, but I doubt the feeling is mutual.

Interesting to see a player target a team rather than letting the teams come to him. Wayne would be a good fit with NE and Brady's style of play but, as so many have said before me, he doesn't have the downfield speed the Patriots need.

I agree with those of you who are saying that New England needs a speedy WR, but I would add that they need a big, and fast one. A tall guy with great hands is much more effective even if he is a touch slower than a smurf type burner.

Ah, the aging WR thing. They hit the spot with Moss for a few seasons. But Galloway & Ochocinco didn't cut it. And, we all know they don't know what a WR looks like in the draft. They need to try going after someone under the age of 30.

The Pats may have to go the FA route at WR considering their inability to develop any of their recent picks at that position.

Reggie Wayne's best recent year was last year where he averaged nearly 13 yards a catch without Peyton. The Pats are not a "mad bomber" team and Brady's more like a Joe Montana QB. Wayne actually fits pretty well. Course, Wayne seems to want them more than they might want him.

All the more reason that if there is a WR in the draft that is labeled "can't miss"... and that receiver rates higher than anyone they could use on Defense...
... Nevermind.

If U ask Gisele she'll yell that the Pats have only Tom Brady to catch his passes.

Brady was reduced to keeping his throws between the numbers because his team didn't have a dominant receiver who could stretch the field like in years past. I'm not sure if Wayne is that receiver at this stage in his career.
