Matta, finally, calls out his Buckeyes

08:35 AM ET 02.27 | After slipping in the Big Ten standings, the Buckeyes will need some help if they are to earn even a share of the regular season title. Ohio State's loss to Wisconsin on Sunday started on Saturday, when coach Thad Matta had to throw his team out of practice because the Buckeyes weren't ready to go. All season, especially after their six losses, the No. 8 Buckeyes have said they've played like they've practiced, for good and for bad. So to lose to the No. 16 Badgers, 63-60, with now just two games remaining in the regular season, was yet another exasperating result. ... It led Matta, typically protective of his players, to call out his team maybe as much as he ever has in his eight years in Columbus.

I am a little let down especially after yesterday. Sully just looks lazy the last few games I have seen.

Matta could be the ugliest coach in basketball. That snoz on matta makes a pelican blush.

And an adult film star jealous?

Matta should call himself out. He doesn't do ANY coaching during the game except for yelling during timeouts "Guys, you just gotta hit some shots." He never makes adjustments and he hardly ever substitutes. On top of that, a guy can make the most boneheaded play ever in the history of mankind (that would make Bob Knight choke someone) and Matta won't even take him out of the game.

This Buckeye team which had so much promise will not survive the first weekend in the tournament.

Matta needs to call himself out. For as good a coach as he is, and as good an evaluator of talent he is, he can't manage a game. He recruits deep, but then only plays six or seven guys. This year especially, he needed to get his bench more involved to save his starters down the stretch so they could play more effectively. Sad to say it, but it'll be an early exit for the Buckeyes this year.

With two games and the league tourny to play they could get two shots at Michigan State , this should show or expose who they really are. And how is that AD Gene Smith still with a job there ?
