Magic prepared to sacrifice Van Gundy?

08:21 AM ET 02.27 | Often, the machinations behind a trade run layers deeper than the public knows -- which may be at play in the case of Dwight Howard in Orlando. An acutely wired-in source says he has heard there may be a more ominous purpose to keep the status quo. It's no secret Howard (and others) is dying to distance himself from the sound of Stan Van Gundy's tedious screeching. Might management be willing to sacrifice a measly coach to accommodate their centrifugal force? It certainly wouldn't be a franchise first. Owner Richard DeVos approved Brian Hill's firing when Penny Hardaway led an uprising, ignited the previous season by Shaquille O'Neal, whose mantra to management was, "We can't get to the next level with this guy."

Not his fault, firing him will not keep Dwight around so why bother? The team as currently constructed can not win a title, that's why he is leaving. Has nothing to do with SVG.

I could imagine SVG getting fired

Otis: Sorry stan, but it's just time for us to part ways
SVG: WHAT??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME, THIS IS BULL SPIT!!!!
Otis: (after wiping off Stan's spit) See, that's the reason we fired you....

Doesn't matter if they do ax Van Gundy, Howard is on his last leg in Orlando. He will be gone directly!!

Otis should be the one on the block.
