Can the Jets find a taker for Bart Scott?

08:02 AM ET 02.28 | The Jets are reportedly exploring a trade of linebacker Bart Scott. The team has asked Scott to provide them a list of teams he would prefer to play for to see if they can work out a deal. But that could prove difficult given the amount of guaranteed money the veteran has left on his contract. Scott restructured his contract last summer to give the Jets cap room, but as part of the agreement the $4.2 million he is owed in 2012 became guaranteed. Scott was the first free agent the Jets signed after hiring Rex Ryan as coach before the 2009 season. Scott signed a six-year, $48 million deal after coming over from Baltimore, where Ryan was defensive coordinator.

We guaranteed you money to get some cap relief, now we have to pawn you off on somebody else to pay the money we guaranteed you. Classic.

Too bad... we could use this dude.

A definite improvement over what is about to leave via free agency (which tells you all you need to know about the state of the Cowboys inside linebackers).

Good luck with that Rex

I'd prefer to stay away from this bag of wind, even though there is definitely THAT need.

Doubt it.

yes you could use him, great clubhouse guy. When you're losing he'll point the finger at everyone else.

On this defense... plenty to point at.

I guess ol' delusional Jerrah really does believe there is enough talent on this team to win a Super Bowl.

Wonder what the ground rules are for locking away dementia patients?

has a reputation of being an intelligent player - I would not be surprised if New England has an interest in the player (but maybe not the contract)

Who can be sure? Al the Impaler was born in 1431. Don't you think he's faked his own death a few times to throw guys like Van Helsing off the scent?

February 28, 2012  08:37 AM ET

LOL...NE has an interest in ANYBODY that gives them an advantage against another team, esp within their own division......

The Jest can recover from their mortgage crisis, but for a lot of guys currently on the roster it might just become a jobless recovery.
