Allen on the block?

08:09 AM ET 02.28 | At some point, with the Big Three aging and Boston hovering around the .500 mark while clinging to a playoff spot, Danny Ainge may look at his roster and start shipping pieces of the title team's foundation out of Beantown. While there has been plenty of focus on Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, sources indicate [Ray Allen] has generated the most interest from contenders. He is a knock-down perimeter shooter and a veteran who can blend well with any team. Even at age 36, Allen is in great shape and, as a free agent after the season, an easy fit into a team's books. The Celtics don't want to trade Allen, but if they continue to slide and are offered a young piece or a draft pick, making a deal would be hard to resist.

Clippers could use him

not sure about that one, Clippers has so much firepower, I think all they need is another wing defender

It's time for Ainge to start addressing next season because this team is going nowhere this season with it's aging and oft-injured lineup.

QUOTE(#6):

Whos their sg?

Clippers needs a SG, but not in Allen, someone like Sefolosha-type of player who is more athletic on the defensive end, but not sure if there is any available out there

QUOTE(#7):

Ray could fit in....when the playoffs start, and defenses pack the lane on Blake , Ray would knock down 3's and add veteran leadership

Oh he is going to fit for sure, but I just think the Clippers is lacking some D

I hate to say it, but Miami could use his services

Mo Williams & Foye. MoWill is OK -- but Ray would be an upgrade. They also have Bledsoe coming back.

The Bulls could use him but I dont think we want to give up any young talent for an aging shooter.

I think it will be tough for Ainge to break up the Celts at this time. If you notice they only struggle when Rondo is not playing. It's that simple. Last year if dirty Wade didn't break Rondo's hand their series against Miami wouldn't have been that lopsided. But on all accounts this is definitely their last stand. Are they championship contenders - yes; are they clear cut champions - no! That's why it's dicey. Everything hinges on Rondo's health. I'd ride it out if I was Ainge...

QUOTE(#1):

What contender would be willing to sacrifice trading a young and promising player for Allen?

If there's a young player out there that's promising to be equal or better than the great career Allen's had then year trade him. This guy is a class act. He needs to be kept in the organization till retires after which they should offer him a front office job right away like the Suns plan on doing for Nash... sorry other contenders and pretenders... Ray aint going nowhere. Unless Ainge has LebronBrain!

LOL!!!! this is bogus..... like i said they're about to come off the books, so we can resign them for less money in the Free agency (if they are willing to take less money) and get some nice free agents to replace them as the starters....
