08:12 AM ET 02.28 | In what became the offseason of beer and chicken, Josh Beckett took a spot in the rotation of Red Sox lightning rods, something that may not change after a Monday interview. [Beckett] claimed there were clubhouse "snitches" who revealed his misbehavior and the personal issues of manager Terry Francona to the media last fall. ... [In] the interview, Beckett said: "Somebody made that stuff up, just like somebody made up that we were doing stuff ... This is stupid. I don't understand what the big deal is. Somebody was trying to save their own [butt], and it probably cost a lot of people their [butts]. The snitching [expletive], that's [expletive]. It's not good."

Some people hate "snitchin'" because it exposes their lucrative (or pleasureable) illegal activities. In industry, it is called "whistle-blowing" and it has stopped many an illegal or immoral activity. Methinks the man doth protest too much.

Boston really should have unloaded this DB, over the winter. He still really believes he did nothing wrong.

Not at all, even if there are outside forces working against him.

Ya gotta wonder what possesses people to say idiotic things like this. Like somehow someone saying what was going on was the problem.

Hey Beckett, the freaking problem was what was going on in the clubhouse, not the fact that someone reported it. You guys collapsed big time, you gotta figure someone is going to try and figure out what was going on to cause it.

Plus, the $565,000,000 tab at Popeye's was a giveaway as well. Next time, hire someone.

Is this a recent statement of his, or are they just dredging up old news? I agree ... move forward and don't look back. Just learn from the mistakes and don't make them again!

This came out in an interview yesterday

You would think all he'd say would be something along the lines of, "looking forward to this year, working hard in spring training, etc."
