Vikes going with Kalil?

08:02 AM ET 02.29 | The Vikings may have cost themselves dearly with a late win this past season to Washington. Had they lost, they would have had the No. 2 pick instead of No. 3. If a report is true, and the St. Louis Rams will trade the No. 2 overall draft pick, the Vikings almost certainly would take Southern California left tackle Matt Kalil with the No. 3 pick. ... After quarterback Andrew Luck goes No. 1 to Indianapolis, a team trading with St. Louis would be able to take Baylor QB Robert Griffin III. That could be Cleveland, which picks No. 4, or Washington, which picks No. 6, after a bidding contest. With Griffin gone, there wouldn't seem to be enough incentive for another team to trade with the Vikings.

Last place in the division - nobody will notice.

It would be funny if Kalil went to the Pro Bowl and Luck and Griffen bombed, wouldn't it?
Of course, the man is right. Last place - nobody will notice. Also Pro Bowl - nobody will notice.

Best for the Vikes to get Kalil and move on. Vikings trying to think about strategy is not good.

Kalil is the safe choice.

It'll take a very good O-line to make any noise in that division. Definitely Kalil.

It's about the Vikings, who are also going nowhere.
In their division, that is, although "going nowhere" and "going to LA" are pretty much synonymous.

I'd take the OL, and then put a contract offer on a WR in free agency, maybe even Mike Wallace from Pitt.

Poor Vikings... it seems they can't even lose effectively.

Opposite order. Free agency starts next week. The draft isn't until the end of April.

LOL! Why would Wallace want to go to the Vikes? He's already said he wants to play on a playoff-contender.....PLUS, Colbert has already said they want Wallace to end his career in Pitt.

Typical pre-contract posturing. I bet he goes for the diva-receiva big-money contract.

Nope. You take the best WR or Defensive player at that spot. whichever is higher on your board.
Is Kalil the third best player in this whole draft? Really?

If the Vikes can land a decent Corner and a decent WR in free agnecy, Kalil is a no-brainer pick. Solidifying the line makes every QB "better".

Pats took OL Nate Solder as their first rounder last year. Yeah, it was later in the draft, but he was still a first round pick. And if that's your need, maybe it is the best thing to do.
Whether he's the best player is less important than what's the best thing for your team going forward. If Kalil can both pass-block and open holes for Adrian Peterson, that's going to do more for the Vikes than a second-round QB, or a question mark.
