Time to consider shutting down Toews

08:19 AM ET 03.01 | After possibly playing as many as six games with a concussion, Jonathan Toews has already missed five more, so it's natural to ask whether it's time to make a difficult call. His last game was 10 days ago and his symptoms have not subsided to the point where he can skate. Toews did some off-ice training Wednesday, riding the stationary bike, but that can mean very little when it comes to recovering from a concussion. ... If he comes back this season opposing teams will target him, especially in the postseason when they know the Hawks without Toews would be a much easier team to beat. Risking his health and career for this stretch run and postseason just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Really! Pens have a kid down in Wilkes-Barre, Despres, who is a real puck mover and who could fill in a little if Letang can't come back.

Still plenty of 'O' without Toews but not much 'D', which seems to be their Achilles??? heel.

March 1, 2012  10:24 AM ET

Not long ago everyone was wondering if the Blues and Wings could keep up with the 'Hawks, most counting Chicago would win the division. They still can, but they are 12 points back.

I think Depres is fantastic and part of our future, can fill holes, but he is no Letang.

If Letang is out for a significant period of time, it will hurt.

Lovejoy can step in.

That's the great thing about hockey- so much respect for the game and your fellow players. Overheard in the post-series handshake line-- "Great series, thanks for trying to give me permanent brain damage".
