08:13 AM ET 03.02 | David Wright had a nice laugh about the warning track power he displayed off Johan Santana Thursday. The sight of Santana on the mound facing hitters in batting practice for the first time this spring made it a good day for the Mets. The veteran lefty pitched two "innings," totaling 40 pitches, and remains on course to pitch Tuesday against the Cardinals in an exhibition game. Santana was all smiles -- perhaps the best sign that his surgically repaired left shoulder is holding up. ... Pitching coach Dan Warthen said he hasn't seen anything resembling a red flag as Santana attempts a return from the September 2010 surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder.

Wow, he made until March 1st.

Also, what's the deal with a Wright photo when the article is about Santana? C'mon Interns, you're better than this, right?

Right???

Would love to see him come back ... although if he truly IS back, he'll be gone by the mid-season trading deadline. What have they done to our Mets?!

GO METS!

March 2, 2012  11:50 AM ET

If he pitches well, he will be gone by Aug 1st if not sooner!! The way it is in MetLand!

March 2, 2012  11:53 AM ET

Who know's maybe Alderson and Collins are right...maybe the Mets will be better than people think...if Santana does make it back this year..that will bolster an already improved bullben....things may not be as bleak as predicted...

March 2, 2012  11:54 AM ET

Santana's 2012 is a no win situation for the Mets fans: he pitches poorly or gets hurt and we're screwed...he pitches well then he'll be traded to save payroll and we're screwed. its really tough to be a Mets fan and has been for a while

I'd like to think he's ready to go, he was ready last Sept but they shut him down. 18 months of recovery lets play some ball!
