Knicks to unleash 'two-headed monster'

07:41 AM ET 03.03 | Knicks point guards Jeremy Lin and Baron Davis are forming a tight bond. So tight that coach Mike D'Antoni had them sharing the backcourt together with the first unit during yesterday's scrimmages. D'Antoni has called Lin and Davis a potential "two-headed monster," but his experimenting yesterday raised eyebrows, especially amid rumblings Davis could supplant Lin as starting point guard in April. The Knicks front office probably would not want to see Lin lose his starting job because he has become a marketing cash cow for the organization on the sale of Linsanity shirts alone.

Well, it was good while it lasted. Leave it to the Knicks to screw this up.

how about they actually play a game?seems like they've played like once in the last 2w

It's premature to use both point guards on the perimeter at the same time. Lin needs to learn to play with the first unit and Davis is still not out of the woods physically let alone starting to shooting guards that are bigger and faster than him. Word to D'Antoni - keep the status quo to give both first and second units time to master learning your system offensively and defensively and also how to play with each other. If you get carried away by the Cleveland blowout you will get carried away from the garden. It's too early - don't do it!

Starting two PGs is not unheard of, especially in D'Antoni's small ball.

WELL SAID

Yupp... we've seen this before. Isaiah tried desperately to get Steve Francis and Marbury to work.. it didn't work out. Recently Goldem State tried it with Ellis and Curry... that didn't work either... size matters in this league. I will hate to see Knicks try that. I can see him using them in spurts but to start both is just not going to work... don't fall for the trap Mike!
