Notre Dame player tweet may be violation

07:54 AM ET 03.03 | Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert evidently was excited to meet recruit Jaylon Smith on the prospect's imminent visit to campus. Perhaps a little too excited, as it turns out. A post on Eifert's Twitter account Friday night may have run afoul of NCAA restrictions on a current student-athlete publicizing a prospective student-athlete's visit to campus, which could be considered an "institutional" violation.

'Loose lips sinks ships' made since at one time, but mentioning a prospect's pending visit does not fall within what I would consider a classified troop movement

It's gonna be hard for the rules and regs to keep up with social media and technology.

NCAA bylaw 13.10.5 - can't publicize a prospective student-athlete's visit.

NCAA reaction (18 months from now): The recruit (now enrolled) cannot attend ND on an athletic scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year (alrighty then). The twit who tweeted is suspended for 5 games (He's completed his eligibility and graduated). ND loses 3 scholarships for the next three years (The NCAA will not consider the track & field scholarship athletes who walk on for football). Kelly must cut one member of his staff (the grad assistant who just got his first paying gig at another school). ND is fined $500 and must submit a plan by January 2017 evidencing institutional control.

The real story is will ND keep wearing those neon helmets that make them look like the village people out there?
Football helmets should not glow in the dark.

Messing with the classic gold helmets is tempting God's vengeance. Nike buck$ or no Nike buck$, lose the loserville cloverleaf abominations and dress like you're intending to play real football. [harumph]

I guess they'll have to retire the vid about ND's game prep including a fresh coat of gold paint on the helmets... UNLESS, they return to the plain, ol' gold helmets. Cloverleaf!?!?!? Pro combat indeed.

Side Bar: Of all of the Nike pro combat unis, I believe that the greatest abomination was the UGA garb debuted in their 2011 opener against BSU. Though, Dawgs fans may argue that the offensive play calling was the greater abomination (Hey! Taking a queue from Boise and tossing the pigskin to the tight ends is working! Let's go back to running it up the gut and missing the receivers on deep routes.).
P.S. I say this with complete recall of the Maryland game garb. It's Mary Land, not Georgia (Where the necks are red and the drawls get thicker with every can of Bulldog Beer.).

LED back-lit HDTVs seem to handle it without streaks, but the potential damage to retinas...

I want to hear from our Domer pals. What do you think of the cloverleaf helmets? Don't you demand that ND's traditional helmets? If ND doesn't embrace tradition, who will?
