Sens could hurt Bruins by claiming Turco

08:29 AM ET 03.06 | Boston's best-laid plans of keeping Tim Thomas fresh for the playoffs by riding Tuukka Rask came crashing down over the weekend, and the Bruins now wait and hope Marty Turco clears waivers by noon Wednesday. One waiver wild card could be Ottawa. The Senators are without Craig Anderson, who is sidelined because of a hand injury. Although the Senators don't necessarily need Turco, they could hurt the Bruins by claiming him. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli is a former colleague of Ottawa counterpart Bryan Murray. Chiarelli was Ottawa's assistant GM in 2005-06 when Murray was the coach. The Bruins need a goalie with NHL experience because Rask might have played his last game of 2011-12.

The more Thomas plays, the better he is.

QUOTE(#4):

The B's apparently have nothing in the minors for goaltenders that they have any confidence in and Turco is a guy with lots of NHL experience. Is he still good enough to play in this league is a question that remains to be answered. It will be interesting to see if Ottawa puts in a claim. They and Boston are not only fighting for the division lead, they stand as a first round match-up right now.

Their number one in Providence is also hurt.

QUOTE(#5):

Are they interested in more Leaf goalies?

Trading goalies with the Leafs has usually worked out quite well for Boston.

That's usually true, but they have 16 games in 30 days to end the season, including 3 sets of back-to-back games. That's a lot of hockey for a 37 year old goalie heading into the playoffs.

It would be a fine time for Tim to heat up.

Especially if he gets hurt.

If he gets hurt, they're screwed. Period.

Much to the chagrin of the apoplectic Boston media.

It would be "Tuukka who?" come playoff time, for sure...but leading up to the playoffs? You'd see him in at least 50% of the games if he were available.

Anyone know how much Tukka Dump is making?

I am now beginning to think maybe my beloved should go after this guy. Our backup (as much as I heart him) been shyting the bed, and we need someone half decent....

UGH!!!!

On that note, there could be a few teams that might want to pick him up.
