08:18 AM ET 03.07 | Mariano Rivera has something in mind for his post-baseball career. Saving 603 games for the Yankees to become the greatest closer of all-time is one thing. There is a much higher calling for [Rivera]. All signs point to the great Rivera retiring after the 2012 season. When he retires, in many ways, Rivera will be just beginning his life's work and will do so through his church, the Refuge of Hope. There are much bigger games to save. He revealed to The Post [Tuesday] he will announce his decision before midseason. "I have to fight for my salvation," Rivera said. "I have to work for that. That is what makes a real closer. That is the game I would love to close. That is what drives me."

When he comes up for HOF voting that first time, I just hope the ones who vote no have the cohones to tell everybody why they voted no. All votes should be made public.
And there will be a few who vote no. count on it.

He will get into the HoF. Why does it matter if someone, and it should remain anonymous, votes no?

Anyone who votes no when he's on the HOF ballot should get their voting rights revoked. He is a no-brainer for the HOF.

I'm not sure if Mo is saying that because he believes it's a requirement to get into Heaven or if he means that he has to act on what he's Divinely inspired to do in order to have Jesus live through him.

I appreciate that nice comment for Mo. He's played to a very high standard for a long time and I still get goose bumps when his music starts and he runs to the pitcher's mound.

At this point, you can say he's the best closer MLB has ever seen. He's amazingly consistant.

Most people forget he was John Wettland's setup guy, during that '96 season. This guy is an incredible talent.
