08:25 AM ET 03.07 | Times have changed for the Panthers, who signed John Madden for depth on a team that now has "14 healthy forwards," according to head coach Kevin Dineen. "It's a good situation for a coach." Madden, 38, has played only 16 games this season and has yet to record a goal or assist. When he played for the New Jersey Devils (1999-2009) he was counted on for scoring short-handed goals and penalty kills. "It is was it is," Madden said. "Obviously I'm not happy sitting out and watching. But at the same time I'm going to continue to work hard and push guys in practice. This is definitely a role I'm not used to, so it's going to take a little bit to get my head around it."

You got signed like 3 months into the season, you have to realize you are a spare part.

And the fact he was really brought in for his faceoff ability and his "veteran experience"....so he should know he wasn't brought in to eat up minutes every game.

I looked at his picture and thought to myself, "NOT ANOTHER WILD THREAD"!!! Then I realized I had erred...

I guess he hasn't been on the ice enough to get a picture of him in a Panther sweater.

Look in the mirror and get a clue - nobody wanted you at the beginning of the season and you're not playing now... RETIRE!!!!!

The caption on that photo could read: Doesn't play well with others.

Not playing much for the Panthers, pretty much sums up where you're at in your career John!

must be nice sitting in 3rd rather than 8th, huh? gotta love modern day sports, give everybody a chance so that you don't hurt anybody's feelings.

either way, I'm pulling for the kitties, I hope they make the playoffs & I hope they surprise some people along the way.

Hey, after 10 years of suffering, right now I just want them to make it to the playoffs. It looks like Dale Tallon has begun turning things in the right direction. Only time will tell of course how things pan out, like next year when hopefully Huberdeau gains a little size and strength and makes the lineup. Right now, I'm just enjoying the fact that this team can actually be entertaining to watch for a change!
And I feel for you and how the Canadiens have been doing....and even happier they showed Jacques Martin the door....he certainly didn't make many fans down here while he failed miserably trying to be a GM and a coach.....ugh, talk about nasty flashbacks!
