08:25 AM ET 03.08 | Jamie Moyer continues to hold Father Time at bay. [Moyer] qualifies for his AARP card in November, but he sure didn't look like the retiring type Wednesday. In two quick innings against the Giants, the 49-year-old lefty didn't allow a run and gave up only one hit. He got a tip of the cap from San Francisco ace Tim Lincecum, who was shelled for five runs and seven hits in two innings. ... Moyer, attempting a return to baseball after almost 18 months away from the game, entered in the third inning and cut down the Giants 1-2-3. He induced three weak grounders to second. Moyer's fastball topped out at 82 mph, and he isn't throwing his cutter yet, but every pitch had a wrinkle Wednesday.

I still remember him playing for the Cubs - he was never anything better than mediocre then, and I highly doubt anything has changed.

Did he just point at the Rockies pitching roster and say, "These Guys Suck!"?

You've got to admit -- their guy is an iron horse. He's been an above average player in four decades, and in all likelihood without the help of PEDs. You've got to admire that.

I am really pulling for Moyer. I hate it when people say somebody is too old to play. If you can still play and are better than younger options, then you should still play.

If he makes the team it will be an amazing story. Not only is this guy old enough to be the dad of most of the guys in the Rox rotation and has a gray beard, he also had tommy john surgery at 48 years old, and is back and looking like he has a new arm.

Re: Telsonx -- I remember him being pretty good with the WS Champs Phillies a few years ago ... but then I'm older than Moyer, so my memory is suspect.

It must be amazing for you, so critical and yet, never having played in the majors. What, exactly, have you done that gives you the right to besmurch someone whose probably played more years in baseball than you've been alive?
He's in the majors.
What have you done?
