08:24 AM ET 03.08 | While Washington may be willing to move John Lannan for prospects, the Nats are also talking about acquisitions, too. The Nationals have inquired about Astros outfielder Jason Bourgeois at least three times since the Winter Meetings, but the two clubs are not close to a deal, according to a baseball source familiar with the two clubs. Bourgeois would be no more than a stopgap if he became a member of the Nationals. He is coming off his best season, hitting .294 with 31 stolen bases in 2011. Bourgeois can play all three outfield positions and second base. So far, Nationals manager Davey Johnson has been happy with the outfielders he currently has on his Spring Training roster.

Why is this a story if both teams are not close to a deal?

Because someone is actually interested in something the Astros have?

.......if astros would eat some money, carlos lee would be a good add in this, his money year.....he has the least amount of protection right now in all of baseball and so if put into a true mlb lineup, would add 10% across the board on all of his offensive numbers...

Interesting that the 'Stros would even want to trade one of their few young assets. What's the point?
