Broncos sincere in pursuit of Manning

08:04 AM ET 03.09 | So, just how likely are the Broncos to sign Peyton Manning? They are more interested in Manning than many people think. They may fit the profile of a team Manning wants to go to more closely than many of the other teams which have contacted Manning's agent, Tom Condon. That's not to say it will happen in any fashion, but the Broncos, like any team with any hint of sanity in its front office should, are highly interested in Manning. And they aren't making a courtesy, just-in-case pitch. They are trying to snag him. The thinking of many personnel executives around the league is Manning simply lifts any team that signs him significantly if his health allows him to play anywhere close to full strength.

Manning would be a "Get Out of Tebowmania Free" card for Elway. Of course they're interested.

Show you're right.

Same story could be written for at least half a dozen teams...

Tebow would quickly become TE/Backup QB....

He'd quickly become the starter somewhere else. After the little fairy tale in Denver last year somebody would bring him in, just to fire up the fans if nothing else.

True, but without the subtexts you have in Denver. You have a starter in place that the local fans love and management hates.

Jacksonville for sure.

Yeah but consider it from Manning's point of view, do you really need to deal with the Tebow maniacs? I mean it's not like he's got no other offers, and they don't come with built in aggravation. Granted afc west is very winnable, but still......

I completely agree: good move for Elway, bad move for Manning. I'd be surprised to hear Denver was even on his short list.

Good point,...that does make for interesting plot twists and turns

If Manning wound up in Denver, I think this would be the ultimate reason.

March 9, 2012  08:48 AM ET

...and Manning is sincere in his pursuit of other options.

March 9, 2012  09:03 AM ET

I dont think Manning would be interested in the politics of playing in Denver...

Just Imagine John Elway criticizing Peyton Manning!!!

With Elway crawling off like a whipped dog?

Sleeper home for Manning: Jacksonville.

Defense: check. Running game: check. Warm weather: check. AFC: check (even in the South, where he can stick it to Irsay twice a year). Cap room: check. New owner looking to make a spash: check.

Put a Manning/Wayne package in Jacksonville and you have a contender.

'Cause I love you so dearly
Please say you'll be mine

Sincerely, oh you know how I love you
I'll do anything for you
Please say you'll be mine

Oh Lord, won't you tell me why
I love that fella so
He doesn't want me
But I'll never, never, never, never let him go

Sincerely, oh you know how I love you
I'll do anything for you
Please say you'll be mine
