Celtics open to offers for Pierce

08:10 AM ET 03.09 | One week out from the trade deadline, is this the calm before the storm or prelude to a fizzle? "It's all over the map," said one team executive who believes that all but the best of the best -- the Bulls, the Heat and the Thunder -- will seriously pursue trades, but perhaps only six or fewer teams actually will make one. ... The Celtics are prepared to entertain offers for Paul Pierce, whose subtraction from the Boston core would be the most advantageous to the post-Big Three rebuilding effort given his age (34) and the $32 million he's owed over the next two seasons. And for those same reasons, he'll be the most difficult of Boston's top four players to move.

they are not going to trade him, he is their franchise player, and also their 4th quarter guy. He is still clutch. They should use the expiring contracts in Allen or Oneal

Pierce is in the same class as Nash, these guys have seen their best days, there's a lot of milage and hardly anything left in the tank to carry another team. The best move for players like Pierce is to retire.

Hard to figure where he could end up...don't see that he's the guy that could anybody over the top.

Pierce is retiring a Celt.... I Wish Ainge would stop bringing up Stupid Trade Rumors..... Let this core have one more run..... Allen And KG are coming off the Books this summer.... Let them finish their Run....

After the C's won their last title, I recall this guy proclaiming himself as the 'best player in the NBA' and, given that lofty title, he should fetch a high price - say two mules and a chunk of raw horse meat ;)

Sure their best days are behind them, they are in the mid to late 30s but neither would be asked to carry another team. At this stage in their career either would be a valuable addition to any team and could put that franchise over the top

QUOTE(#17):

I hate Paul Pierce and would never want him in NY. And while I like and respect Ray Allen a great deal, I don't know if a move for him at his age would be a good one. However, with that said, I would laugh my testicles off to see Melo's reaction upon learning he was sent to Boston of all places in a trade after all of his fanfare about wanting so badly to return home to NY. What would make it even sweeter is if Pierce and Allen came to NY, instantly clicked with Lin, Amare and company and ended up in the ECF. Imagine how inadequate Melo would feel then. HA HA HA HA He might never recover, quit the NBA and join a monestary.

LOL!!! That's A Scheme that I Don't think would soon happen....

Pierce is Like Kobe.... They're Not leaving.... to much they've done for their respected teams they have dedicated their whole careers to....

All good Ziggs. Getting close to the deadline. I'm wondering if the Lakers are going to do anything.
