07:32 AM ET 03.10 | Not only are the Capitals teetering on the edge of the playoff race, but the 26-year old Alex Ovechkin is suffering through the worst statistical season of his career. In 2009, he signed the richest contract in NHL history, and he's slated to earn $9 million this season. He enters the season's final four weeks tied for No. 53 in the league in points and tied for 18th in goals. A player who four times topped 100 points in his career and scored 65 goals just four seasons ago is on pace to finish the season with 61 points and 33 goals.

Won't matter...they're on even ground or have games in hand on the teams chasing them for that final playoff spot.
And their regulation/ot wins number is also better...

..... and THAT'S what's wrong with Ovechkin. If I had to diagnose his condition, I'd say he suffers from Yashinitis.

Watch him come alive at Sochi when he plays for Mother Russia.

He was suspended 3 games for a head hit before too..arent the suspensions supposed to be longer when the player is a repeat offender ?? Or does that only apply to non-super-stars ....

.... and non-Boston Bruins? ;-)

You mean something like this?

The only heart he has are the 2 Hart's on his mantle. There's your issue.

Thought the hit warranted a suspension and you're right it should have been more because he was a repeat offender. They did tack on more to Ovie's suspension earlier because he was a repeat offender so I have no idea why Shanny didn't give him more.

What amazes me is that there was no penalty called on the ice. WTF? What do they pay TWO of them to be on the ice at the same time? Just so they can get in the way of players of the team they want to lose?

I'm telling you, he has gotten tight with Vladmir Krutov's hot dog supplier. He hasn't met a pork puppy he didn't eat...

Shanny asked about his intent, he said there was none, so he got 3.
