Miami front office not sold on Flynn

09:25 AM ET 03.11 | What if the Dolphins don't get Peyton Manning? Though interest in Matt Flynn is expected in that scenario, not everyone inside the organization is enthusiastic about that. One official raised questions about how much better Flynn is than Matt Moore. Joe Philbin likes Flynn, and so an offer to Flynn is inevitable if Manning rejects the Dolphins. But at the ownership level, there's no great conviction that he's destined to be a franchise quarterback.

Interesting to read so much hype about a guy drafted in the 7th round 4 years ago with 2 starts under his belt.
Must be the GB kool aid.

At least Flynn was drafted.

I was thinking the same thing, but if Flynn gets the money more power to him. I guess carrying a clipboard on the sidelines is worth it, although he did have two good starts in 34 games he played as a Packer.

The Miami Front office!!!!! Now thats funny. Sure different front office. And now they know better though, sure. Look Miami, do yourself a favor, make rule number one be : Never try to draft a QB, we do not know how.
In 2009 they take QB Pat White in round 2
In 2008 they take Chad Henne in round 2
In 2007 they take QB John Beck in round 2

So you're saying they're better off in the "used car" market?

Which round a player was drafted in means nothing.
But I would be hesitant about a quarterback who has only started 2 games, regardless of how well he played. Those 2 starts were played on a team way more talented than Miami.

That's a lot of wasted 2nd round picks.

A lot of teams aren't sold on Flynn.
Just because he's among the best FA QB's doesn't mean he's a franchise guy.
<==== Like him.

Exactly. This is a team that left Matt Ryan on the board to take Jake Long. A nice pick, but not your QB for years.
At least there is NFL tape on Flynn. I think they go all out for Peyton Manning. All out. It will be decided by this Friday.

Yes it is. Not to mention the Ginn first round pick. Amazing they are as good as they are.

Yes, Flynn was drafted in the 7th round. Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round and Tony Romo was undrafted. This is NOT a comparison of the players. It is to show that drafting is not an exact science.
Flynn can be compared to Brian Brohm who was drafted by Green Bay in the 2nd round. Go back and look at all the draft comments on how good Brohm was going to be. Flynn beat him out in training camp the first year. Where is Brian Brohm now?????

***sigh**** Flynn also has something most 7th rounders never had. He WON a BCS championship with LSU! He's got skills. IF the Miami front office is not sold on Flynn even in the face of the recommendation of the coach they just hired, this is just more evidence on why Ireland must go.

They do seem to come away with the Pacer among a field of Mercedez quite often.

Front office skeptical? Well they should be. Flynne appears to have potential, but 2 games does not the HOF make.I wouldn't necessarily pass on him, but wouldn't offer him the world at this point.

Okay, Matt Flynn won a BCS National Championship.
That puts him in the same category as guys like Tee Martin, Chris Weinke, Josh Heupel, Ken Dorsey, Craig Krenzel, Matt Mauck, Matt Leinart, Vince Young, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, Greg McElroy and Cam Newton.
Cam Newton being the only respectable name on there unless you're a diehard Bronco fan.
Winning a BCS championship is far from a guarantee of NFL success.

You hire Philbin, then you let him decide. It is his job to make or break. If he is sold on flynn, and he would know, then that is that.

Packer fans seem to be the only folks convinced that he's the next big thing. I think they have that Lions game from the end of the season on an endless loop on their public access cable channel.
