08:09 AM ET 03.12 | David Wright joined a cast of the walking wounded in Mets camp. The Mets sent [Wright] to New York to have his left rib cage examined, and likely have an an "ultrasound-guided cortisone shot," GM Sandy Alderson said. Wright is one of several Mets, including outfielders Scott Hairston and Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who have suffered from rib cage/oblique issues this spring, leading the Mets to adjust some of their training routines. "You better believe it's troubling," Collins said. ... "This didn't happen twenty years ago." In response, Collins has ordered his players to put more effort into stretching exercises, make sure to stay hydrated, and reduce the amount of swings taken during batting practice.

It's just the beginning of what could be a very long season for Mets fans.

"There's a bright, golden haze on the meadow
There's a bright, golden haze on the meadow.
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye
And it looks like it's climbing clear up to the sky.

Oh, what a beautiful Mornin'
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin'
Everything's goin' my way.

All the cattle are standin' like statues
All the cattle are standin' like statues
They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by
But a little brown mav'rick is winkin' her eye

Oh, what a beautiful Mornin'
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin'
Everything's goin' my way.

All the sounds of the earth are like music
All the sounds of the earth are like music
The breeze is so busy it don't miss a tree
An' a ol' weepin' willer is laughin' at me

Oh, what a beautiful Mornin'
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin'
Everything's goin' my way.
Oh, what a beautiful day!

Not saying everything is tanking - just that these are the types of injuries that can nag all year.... Just sayin. There is very little if any depth on the Mets roster - that only intensifies these types of injuries. It's tough having to listen to it when the roster is thin.......

agree....Ronnie Cedeno at 3rd is not very encouraging nor is this guy Loewen ( ex Oriole pitcher) as my 4th outfileder...looks like Ed Kranepool in centerfield....

once again this kid Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a legit shot at possibly being the everyday centerfielder and gets hurt again in spring training....last year he had a slow spring so they sent him down...starts tearing up AAA and were going to possibly recall him ..next day hurts his knee..out the rest of the year....comws back this year ..oblique...wtf???

If he can keep that up he'll be traded to some contending team come July.
