08:01 AM ET 03.13 | To hear Brandon Stokley tell it, his former QB is firing on all cylinders. If you happened to be walking a dog past a Castle Rock park early this past Saturday morning and thought, "Gee, that guy throwing the football looks a lot like Peyton Manning," your eyes did not deceive. That was none other than Peyton Manning throwing passes to [Stokley] in a small Castle Rock park. ... [Manning] threw about 50 passes to the route-running Stokley. Like Manning, Stokley is a free agent. "I saw him for three days at Duke and he was the only quarterback (throwing to four or five receivers) and he threw a ton of balls for three straight practices and the guy looked to me like he did when I was there six years ago," said Stokley.

The question is, does he grimmace every time he lets go of the ball?

I don't think that's the case. He couldn't throw 50 passes (if indeed he did) if it hurt every time he released the ball.

No...the REAL question is, can he still throw the ball AFTER getting flattened by a 300lb DL?

It's nice that he can play catch in the park, but that's not the same as getting chased by NFL monsters.

What he didn't say was that after catching passes from Denver and Seattle QBs for 4 years just about anyone would look like they are throwing like a champ.

I for one hope he is 100% and can play again. But having had neck nerve issues, and not to the severity he had, I can't understand why he would want to play and risk even more permanent damage.

You'll also notice that these pitch-and-catches are unannounced and mostly unwitnessed. The press seems never to be invited. Manning's a clever fellow.

If he didn't want any press or team officials watching, all he had to do was throw to TO.

You all have short memories. Peyton doesn't take hits very often. If he feels like he's going to get sacked he just falls on the ground.

In Mannings case it will only take 1 hard hit in the blind side and he could be eating dinner thru a straw the rest of his life.
