08:11 AM ET 03.13 | Welcome to the club, Brad Lidge. [Lidge is next] up in the already sizable list of Nats players making crazy talk in the spring. ... Lidge, you might recall, once threw the final World Series pitch for the Grand Poobah Champions of the Universe Philadelphia Phillies. Here's his take on the 2012 Nats. "Probably the most talented team I've ever been on, and I've been on some great teams," he said. "We want to be in the playoffs," Drew Storen also said in [an MLB.com] video. "We're not just saying we want to be .500 or anything like that. That's not what we want. We want to be playing in October, and we want to win it." "It started at the beginning" Adam LaRoche said. "We had guys coming in a week early."

Nats are doing a lot of talking. Clearly they have a good team but lets not get too carried away.

Lidge looks a lot like Jayson Werth....c'mon interns, you can do better than that.

the Nats roster looks better than it did this time last year. and the NL East is shaping up to be quite competitive this season.

They're just trying to boost ticket sales.

Zimmerman is top 3 third basemen in the game. Longoria and Beltre may be better. Cabrera...eh. Defense and offense, he's top 3.

It's funny how bullies like Philly fans have textbook reactions to someone coming back after them. Complaining, whining, getting defensive. It's hilarious. Stand up to a bully, look him in the eye, and that's the first step to beating him. Philly fans are so lame.

wasn't there a song by the band "Asia"...."Only Time Will Tell".......

We'll see. Talk in March is just that........talk. I've been watching DC teams since 1952 and there ain't been many good ones. But, we live in hope. If you aren't optimistic in March there may not be any fun all year!

Are you one of the five or so people who are trying to "Take Back the Park"? The sad part is, your team isn't half bad. It's the fan support that sucks. The only time that Nats seem to be able to sell out their park is when the Phillies, Red Sox or Yankees come to town. It looks great on TV until the cameras start panning the crowd and only 1 out of every 5 fans are wearing Nats colors.

If Lidge was still with the Phillies and saying the same thing, you and every other doubter would be saying things like, "talk about stating the obvious" or "Tell us something we don't already know"

If a team doesn't have confidence in itself, it will never win, no matter how much talent that team has. The Nats are talking and with their play on the field are turning heads. Now if only fans from other teams would stop looking down their noses at the Nationals, maybe you'd actually see, this is not the team we say last year. It's more athletic, more talented, more experienced and they will go into every game expecting to win.

That's how winning attitudes and winning teams are born.

how about the fact that there wasn't a single comment from a phillies fan claiming to do what you said they did?

Wait...we're lame? Our team execs didn't have to ban out of town tickets sales, like the classless winers they are. Boo whoo...our stadium is full of the rival team's fans.

When you complain about Philly fans, you only show your own ignorance. You can't recognize passion, because your own team sucks to the point none if it's "fans" have any. Can't wait to be in your nice little stadium, wearing my Phillies gear, while my team kicks your team's ****. All the Natinals, yes Natinals execs did was fire us up.

See ya at Citizens Bank Park South!

Apparently there is no ban on alcohol in the Nationals clubhouse.

March 13, 2012  03:49 PM ET

Hey, give the Nats a break. They're in first place today and it's the latest they've been in this position in any season!

No, there is a stadium in DC, not a toilet.
