Cubs will deliver bad news to three pitchers

08:12 AM ET 03.13 | In addition to the optimism of spring, natural selection is also a part of camp, something that's especially true for the Cubs. Two open starting spots, five pitchers fighting for them. Competition ensues, and at some point, there will be separation. What that means at the end of March is that two people will be on the plane leaving for Chicago with smiles on their faces. The rest? They'll try to figure out what went wrong and how to make it better, and they'll have plenty of time to do it in the bullpen or down in the minors. Until then, welcome to the logjam. ... For Rodrigo Lopez, Jeff Samardzija, Chris Volstad, Randy Wells and Travis Wood, every outing is fasten-the-seatbelt, don't-blink time.

Samardzija isn't going anywhere. They traded Marshall to land Wood. Theo raved about how you need 7 to 9 starters given their unreliabilty. One or two of them could always be sent down or possibly traded. Standard spring training issues

I'm personally hoping for Jamie Navarro to come back to the south side. Hell, maybe he'll pitch for both Chicago teams again.

all teams go to camp with quite a few pitchers who aren't going to be on the opening day roster....

I heard that Rick Reuschel , Steve Trout and Jeff Pico are still available. Remember, quoting "Lord Theo"; "it's the Cubs Way".... I'm not even sure if Lord Theo knows what exactly that is.

For me, it's been a 47 year working in progress, and for other members of my family, it's been even longer, so don't quote a "work in progress" to me.

The bad news for three of you guys is you will be going north with us and pitching every five days.
Oh, and no staying out late at night either and not getting your rest.

I've good news and bad news. Good news is that you will play in The Show. The bad news is that you will do it as a Cub.

the cubs will need to clear some room in their roster, whoever doesn't make it in the big leagues then they most go back to the minors, or get released!!!
