08:08 AM ET 03.15 | Not only is the honeymoon over, but the marriage is, too, after Mike D'Antoni took himself out of the soap opera on Broadway. A source with knowledge of the discussions says D'Antoni and Knicks chairman James Dolan mutually agreed to terminate D'Antoni's job with New York after the two met [Wednesday] morning. D'Antoni, the source said, had been advocating that the Knicks attempt to trade Anthony to the New Jersey Nets for guard Deron Williams, a deal D'Antoni believed would be beneficial for both franchises. But Dolan categorically declined that request, and the "conflicting visions" between the owner and head coach about Anthony meant there was no way forward.

Tough to figure out how that one would work out.

are you kidding....it makes perfect sense now.....If howard stays another year in Orlando Dwill will leave them for nothing ( after all they gave up for him ), and Melo was very close to oking a deal to the Nets before being dealt to the Knicks.......The Knicks get one of the best points in the game, and the nets get a guy that is locked up for another 4 years , to open their new building with........In the past the Yankees and Red Sox have worked trades, why not the Knicks and Nets

Highly doubt the Nets want Melo as their franchise cornerstone moving forward, it has not worked out so well thus far.

I disagree with you JGB... that's the one move we should have made. Melo helps no one and we'll all see it soon. Dwight will be a Net soon along with DWill which will leave Knicks harpless against Bulls, Heat and Nets... they'll stick it to us for a long time. Let's face it Chandler and STAT are injury prone hitting their 30's. Melo's gunna be 28 next month and doesn't play team ball and in no way a leader... we're doomed man. We had to ship out Melo. D'Antoni was right. Time will prove it.

They wont trade for another PG as long as Jeremy Lin is still making $ for them

so if he wanted DWill, does that mean Linsanity is truly dead?

Jeremy can do anything ... they'd would just move him to SF.

QUOTE(#5):

That would have been a great deal for both teams. NY will get a PG that will distribute the ball and can also score. He will fit in better w/ Amare and Chandler. NJ gets a superstar that is signed long term and will buddy up w/ Jay Z. I don't get why NY fans would not love this idea. Dolan is the dumb one here.

Yeah, it looks like D'Antoni was finally onto something good and it turned out to be the straw that broke the camel's back on his coaching gig! Damn, Dolan is dumb...go figure!

If a true point gaurd was here D'Antonio would still be here.. Williams would have been a great fit.. But I think the owners drank to much of the lin kool aid and hes their point gaurd.. Sort of like Romo in dallas. I think it would be a fair trade and they can still do it, since Howard decided to stay. Well see what happens today.

Oh I know , but their option at this point would be to lose DWill for nothing

Yeah, that's true actually.

No comparison! If any team could get a DWill, DHoward, LBJ they'd take it in a heartbeat even if they had the next best at their position...

Everyone except Dolan that is. Sorry Knicks fans and I do like your team and fans but, your organization sure has looked like a comedy of errors in so many ways.

Bro, NY is little disheartend with Melo. Trade him for DWill and you suddenly have another moneymaking player on the floor. Who in NY wouldn't want to see DWill at PG passing to Stat and Lin?

3 years ago I said! Quote I have seen this movie before, so I now how it ends. I would like to THANK the Knicks orginization for seeing the light!

You play to your players strengths not a system. We have blamed Zach, Crawford, Murberry, Curry, Nate, Melo and the list goes on.

Yes, some of the players were bad but can not always be the players.

We can move on now!
