Shockey wants a Big Blue encore

08:03 AM ET 03.15 | Look out, New York. Jeremy Shockey, who forced his way out of New York four years ago, needs a job and has let the Giants know he would like to return, the Daily News has learned. How likely is it they would take him back? Remember, the Giants brought in Plaxico Burress for a visit last summer and then offered him a contract. He signed with the Jets. The Giants were willing to forgive Burress for ruining their chances to repeat as Super Bowl champs in 2008 when he shot himself in the leg. So, they could very well forgive Shockey for his antics during his six seasons with them. The Giants have not ruled out a sequel with Shockey, but Martellus Bennett, the former Cowboy, was their tight end priority.

Nah, Jeremy, you should run away and join the circus. They're in the same stadium, just down the hall from the Giants.

Good luck with Marty B. He will bring more online entertainment value than success on the field.

Would be a pointless pickup by the G-Men! Way past his prime and can't block for anything.

If they wanted an ex-Giant tight end, they'd call Shiancoe or Boss, not you dude.

Who knows. They figure if they could get what they did out of Boss and Ballard, then a guy with the size and all of Bennett can be useful too.
He can run block, and the Giants were awful running last year. He was only targeted on 23 pass plays last year with the Cowboys.
We shall see. At $2.5 million for one year it is worth a try.

Eli really started coming into his own at QB when Shockey took the diva act somewhere else. Bringing him back seems like a step in the wrong direction.

Shockey burned every bridge when he left. Coughlin does not let it go and neither do the Mara's.
No Burress, no Tiki return, none of that stuff.

His limited action was because they knew they could not count on him in the passing game. With his size he should have been more of a factor in the running game.

I like Coughlin and the Maras more and more...

You could be right. But the Giants are in a corner at the TE spot.
Draft last and not much cap room. Trying to fly on the cheap right now.

Yeah, this will happen...

Yes, and after the SB win, Coughlin's word will carry tremendous weight. Shockey is unpredictable and outspoken, things coaches hate. Coughlin certainly isn't the type to let anything go and he will probably never forget "We got outplayed and outcoached. Write that down." Fuggedaboutit.

My thoughts exactly. Shockey was no confidence booster for Eli.

You got it.
And then there is the fact that he is not good enough anymore to be worth the bother.

In the end they will find out you get what you pay for. As Otis would say - he was a big bag of nothing.
