08:01 AM ET 03.16 | David Cutcliffe has a unique perspective on a certain free agent quarterback. [Cutcliffe], now head coach at Duke, was Peyton Manning's offensive coordinator at UT in 1994-97. Cutcliffe, who later recruited and coached Eli Manning at Ole Miss, has maintained a close relationship with the Manning family and has observed Peyton Manning work out on several occasions in the last three months. I spoke with him [Thursday] via phone. ... On Manning's recovery from neck procedures: "It's incredible how much progress he's made in throwing the football. He's gotten his arm strength back and his accuracy is there. I'm not an NFL coach, of course, but I think I know what it takes to complete passes in the NFL and it's clear that Peyton can make all those throws."

This is the weakest Peyton Manning thread of the month. No goofy speculation at all. Just a guy who might actually be knowledgeable making an intelligent observation.

Of course, replacing apostrophes with 3 question marks does make it a lot sillier.

Its great that Peytons functioning again....remains to be seen if he can do more than play pitch and catch with Eli.... lets see what happens the first time he gets decked by someone like Mario Williams....or James Harrison....

Peyton can throw with strength and accuracy, excellent. His next test will be getting to his feet and walking after a 350# lineman sacks him....

March 16, 2012  08:43 AM ET

Yep. Manning is ready to start for Duke today!!!

March 16, 2012  08:55 AM ET

With that big scar, he looks like the Franken-Manning. Reborn after the DR. saved his career.

March 16, 2012  09:12 AM ET

seems most observers who have commented on his recent throwing are all friends/colleagues/former teammate/dad - has any disinterested/neutral observer commented on his current condition?

What's this guy supposed to say, his arm is like spaghetti noodles?

True for everyone but since hitting Peyton in the head would probably be $1,000,000 fine and a 20 year suspension................
