08:03 AM ET 03.16 | Browns President Mike Holmgren took the occasion of a Thursday conference call to float a serious accusation. [Holmgren] said the Browns offer to the Rams to trade up to No. 2 for Robert Griffin III "was every bit the offer that was chosen." The Browns reportedly had offered three No. 1 picks, but not a second. He said all of the reports have been incorrect. The Redskins pulled off the deal with three No. 1s and a second-rounder. "There are reasons it didn't happen," said Holmgren. "There's a very close relationship with" the parties that got it done. He added, "I'm not sure any offer was going to be good enough. We were very aggressive and it didn't work. Rest assured, we were aggressively involved in that."

Are you going to say they have a prejudice vs fat people too?

March 16, 2012  08:17 AM ET

Mike, I'm guessing you don't have any friends. Except, maybe the manager of Old Country Buffet.

March 16, 2012  08:22 AM ET

Better make more friends Mike.

March 16, 2012  08:26 AM ET

Hail to the Redkskins

March 16, 2012  08:29 AM ET

Sour grapes, if this is true you need to buy some friends Mike.

March 16, 2012  08:31 AM ET

AND...the fact that RG3 would have been playing in Cleveland......for the Browns.....

March 16, 2012  08:37 AM ET

I'd be ****ed if I was a Rams fan. You could have received two first round picks this year. One being at 4 and could definitely secured one of your top needs. Instead, your administration chose to be chummy with an organization desperate for a qb. The story is the Rams wouldn't let the Browns attempt to better the Redskins offer. Bad business.

March 16, 2012  08:40 AM ET

The Browns are better off. Washington will be set back for years. Think Herschel Walker to the Vikings. The Rams will control the next three drafts. Their fans should be ecstatic.

He doesn't need anyone else. He and Brett are still buddies.

I can't see any of the 3; Fisher, Shannahan, or Holmgren being very friendly. Hey Mike why not try and work with what's on your table. You might end up wiping your brow if RG3 ends up being a bust.

March 16, 2012  09:06 AM ET

How long before deadskin fans throw this one under the bus? How bout upgrading that pitiful excuse for an O-line? Good thing this kid can scramble, with the passrushers in this division he's gonna be busy.

March 16, 2012  09:23 AM ET

Now we have RG3gate.

March 16, 2012  09:31 AM ET

Cry baby...

March 16, 2012  09:31 AM ET

Well you weren't aggressive enough buddy boy. Lets see, Tebow is peed off, Kolb is peed off, and his QB is peed off. So much for loyalty and backing of your Gm's. Ya I'd want to go out and kick my butt kicked on their behalf.

The Plains Dealer might actually have something to write about in the off-season for a change... aside from "last season sucked, looking forward to next season".

Mike should have just stuck to coaching.

March 16, 2012  09:49 AM ET

sounds more like a way to appease fans - the conference call was to season ticket holders - than a serious complaint with the trade

March 16, 2012  09:51 AM ET

Holmgren did the same thing in Seattle, he blamed "EVERYONE" but himself!!!!

March 16, 2012  09:52 AM ET

Maybe RGIII called the Rams and promised something in return for NOT dealing the pick to Cleveland.
A little quid pro quo, perhaps.
