10:10 AM ET 03.17 | Brandon Marshall, the Bears' newly acquired wide receiver surely won the hearts of Bears fans and probably softened many of his harshest critics when he spoke with sincerity and candor -- stopping to compose himself on a few occasions -- about the personal conduct issues that have stained his reputation and his battle with borderline personality disorder at his introductory press conference Friday at Halas Hall. Marshall's emotion carried the day. "Wow. This is a very special moment for me," Marshall said with a heavy sigh. "I couldn't have asked for a better situation." If Chicago could will an athlete to succeed, Marshall will be a huge hit next season. But it can't. So it's all up to Brandon Marshall to live up to the promise of the day that "this journey is going to be amazing" and realize his goal of "being an asset to this team, this organization and most importantly to the community."

Actions speak louder than words...

Can Marshall win over Bears fans? I'll say yes, short term, no long term.
Will he be an asset to the team? I'll say an asset minus the et.

If history teaches us nothing, we are condemned to repeat it.

like maybe stop hitting women?

If he has 1200 yards and 8+ touchdowns and helps them win playoff games, he could be a goose-stepping Nazi and he would be well-received.

'surely won the hearts of Bears fans and probably softened many of his harshest critics' - for some reason, I have a difficult time imagining some guy, sitting in his Bears man cave, shedding a tear over any of this

I was about to say...

Chicks beware!

Any WR that can run a route and hang on to a 12 yard pass can win over the Bears fans at this point.

March 17, 2012  12:15 PM ET

12 yards? Chicago!? One PLAY? You must be from the 80's.

March 17, 2012  12:45 PM ET

Answer: yes. He becomes a consistent target for an overjoyed Cutler and Bears' fans forget his problems. All they care about are wins. They don't even care about well-played football unless it ends in a win.

(Reports about the incident involving the NY woman, Christen Myles, are confused and Marshall has yet to be charged. Seems as if there was all kinds of mayhem at the NY club.)

If Marshall can keep his mouth shut, not hit woman & stay out of Jail and not get suspended, he would be perfect for DaBears, the question is, Can he do it?

Can Marshall win over Bears fans?

Forget the fans. Can he win over the Chicago police?

I'm thinking "if he can't win them over, he'll just beat the snot out of them"

His girlfriend knows ka-razor.....she took a slice out of Marshall a few years back while playing for Miami

I wouldn't have placed a couple of third-round picks on the wager.

On the other hand, any woman stupid enough to have anything to do with that fool maybe deserves a smack upside the head?

Can Marshall win over Bears fans?

Me thinks the Bears have acquired their own version of T.O.
