Patriots close to signing Lloyd

08:31 AM ET 03.17 | Patriots fans have been frustrated by what's perceived as a lack of activity by the team since free agency opened Tuesday. But if New England locks up Brandon Lloyd, a likely starting receiver, and LaRon Landry, a likely starting safety, they'd probably have a much rosier outlook on things. Well that could happen this weekend. A league source Friday night said that the 30-year-old Lloyd and the Patriots were "close" to coming to a contract agreement. Once it's finalized, the team could potentially have the outside-the-numbers receiving threat it has been lacking since Randy Moss was traded a quarter of the way into the 2010 season.

I've been frustrated by the lack of coherently interesting articles that need to be a little more terse and a little less facectious...Morning FN bracket busters.....

and oh yea the little spinny thing......wuwt???

What? You mean Ocho Cinco hasn't been the answer?

March 17, 2012  08:49 AM ET

Pats fans should know by now they have their process and it will move along at their speed.

Ocho didn't even understand the question.

Landry is a surprise if they sign him. The guy cannot stay on the field, with his medical history he would come cheap.

LaRon Landry?

Really?

I need more coffee...

Big disappointment with Skins. Can't stay on the field. Made as many boneheaded plays as great ones.

I hated to see him released.
When my team played the cowboys I always considered him our 12th man.

Don't these guys have like another 12 trillion draft picks?

March 17, 2012  11:11 AM ET

good news for the Steelers, better Landry than Wallace (the real deep threat)

Didn't they learn from Albert not to take discarded Redskins?

He damn sure was last season.

When you have Tom Brady throwing passes, somehow you make an effort to stay on the field because, the Golden Ring is not dat far away!

I'm finding myself lacking enthusiasm about the impending signing of a guy who has career averages of 35-532-4. Hopefully Josh McDaniels can get as much out of Lloyd in New England as he did in Denver in 2010 (77-1448-11 in 16 games) and St. Louis in 2011 (51-683-5 in 11 games). If you want fans to have a "rosier outlook" on this off-season, get on the phone and get Kamieron Wimbley - cut yesterday by the Raiders - into Foxborough and under contract.
