08:26 AM ET 03.20 | He's back, but the work is only beginning. Andy Pettitte reports to Yankees camp [Tuesday] to embark on his pitching comeback, and if anyone knows the perils of attempting a return to the mound when approaching the age of 40, it's David Cone. In 2003, Cone's return after a one-year absence didn't turn out the way he had hoped, lasting just five games with the Mets. "It's tough," said Cone, Pettitte's teammate with the Yankees from 1995-2000. "You get intoxicated by the allure of the comeback." Cone said an athlete can forget about some of the challenges along the way and if he could change one thing, he would have taken longer to prepare. "Andy can take his time and come back whenever he's able," Cone said by phone yesterday. "I think I rushed mine."

Yes, but did Cone take into account the pharmaceutical advantages that Pettitte will have at his disposal?

Oh man, I can just imagine that Andy Pettitte staredown from behind his glove covered face...

You've got my support, Andy.
