Texas' All-American sprinter on the move ... to RB

08:37 AM ET 03.21 | Whether D.J. Monroe buys it, Mack Brown is convinced it makes sense to move Monroe from tailback to wide receiver. Brown said Tuesday that the senior, who has spent his career at tailback, has been logging spring practice time at receiver. It's a logical move to Brown because Texas is building quality depth at tailback, and the explosiveness of the 175-pound Monroe can best be used at receiver, although he is not regarded as a consistently reliable pass-catcher. ... But Brown noted that Monroe, an All-America sprinter on the Longhorns' track team who has always been a tailback in football, is still struggling to embrace the new assignment. "When you first tell a guy, 'We need you to do this,' they don't like it much," Brown said.

"...although he is not regarded as a consistently reliable pass-catcher" Fast and no hands. Better get some of this stuff ready.

He's a change-of-pace back. Sending him on the field in player "package" hasn't fooled anyone in 3 years. Move him.

Fred Biletnikoff? Now I know you're old Corp. You've been playing possum!

QUOTE(#9):

wait, what? You mean you knew they were running a _______ when he got on the field? Who'd have thought it.

They did the same thing with Cody Johnson. He came in with other players in a "package" that didn't fool the defense. Starting Whitaker instead of Johnson vs. Missouri was just mind-numbing ... and costly.
