Jets to feature Tebow in Wildcat scheme

06:19 AM ET 03.23 | The Jets insist that Tim Tebow is not here to take Mark Sanchez's job. Tebow will be his backup and the team will tailor specific sets of plays for him out of the Wildcat formation. Ryan is enamored with the idea of what Tebow can do out of the Wildcat. Despite the formation's decreasing popularity around the NFL, the Jets feel Tebow can bring an added dimension because he is a threat to throw the ball. Offensive coordinator Tony Sparano liked what he saw of Tebow when he coached him at the 2010 Senior Bowl.

We'll see how long that last for?

His offense will be better than Sanchez's offense, yo.

March 23, 2012  07:10 AM ET

I hope a wildcat kills Tebow. God, the Jets are so hateable.

March 23, 2012  07:19 AM ET

If Tebow were more of a threat to throw the ball he could've brought an added dimension to the Bronco offense, too.

Just the same, I hope Sanchez hasn't stocked up on too many groceries. He'll just have to throw them away when he gets traded.

Can't be much worse...

Tebow needs a cougar.

That'd be nice.

As Tebow can't throw, he will either run around the left end or right end. What a threat! How will Defensive Coordinators ever plan for the Tebow Threat?

March 23, 2012  08:16 AM ET

I'll have to figure out a way to root for Tebow and still loathe the Jets. Argh.

Gee...why didn't John Elway think of THAT?...... ;)

Traded? Nobody is going to want his contract. More likely, he'll be cut.

He can keep the canned goods and cereal in his shopping cart.

March 23, 2012  08:37 AM ET

Has Sparano not learned anything from his coaching experience in Miami?

March 23, 2012  08:49 AM ET

The horrors, the horrors. After Sanchez throws his first interception the fans will boo him out of the game and then, to the sounds of a heavenly choir, St. Tebow arrives. Since he isn't even a 50% passer, the Jets new offensive scheme will be exactly what the Bears used for Walter Payton's first seven years. Tebow run left. Tebow run right. Tebow draw. Punt. Repeat.

+1.. who would pay that much for him (besides the Jests)

This should be fun. " OK, Santonio, on this play you are a blocker, got it?"

March 23, 2012  09:09 AM ET

Tebow will take an already screwed up team and make it more screwed up. Anyone on the team that supports Sanchez -there may be a couple?, will not like Tebow coming there.
I believe you cannot have a good run blocking team (Tebow wildcat) and a good pass blocking team (Sanchez throwing) both. There isn't time to develop the O line to do this. They are more specialists now.
Teams have already gotten away from trying. You pass mostly and run sometimes, even with Adrian Peterson, this is the standard now.
