Tortorella changing Rangers lines

06:39 AM ET 03.23 | The Rangers are on twin tracks entering the final nine matches and two weeks of the season, both attempting to capture first place in the East while honing their game for the playoffs. Still, head coach John Tortorella has made it clear time and time again that his primary focus is on the means rather than the end. This makes his decision Wednesday night to go without a checking line against the Red Wings by moving putative checking center Brian Boyle between Mats Zuccarello and Artem Anisimov while shifting one of his customary wingers, Brandon Prust, to the fourth line while scratching the other, Ruslan Fedotenko, an interesting one.

Complete non-story. What coach doesn't mix up the line combinations based on a given situation. Then again, this is the illustrious New York Post providing it's normal scintillating in depth journalism.

and aside from the Post's usual journalistic excellence, as a New York paper that seeming has a beat guy covering this team, one of the more maddening aspects of Torts is that he is constantly shifting lines around. This is something they should probably have noticed before the 4th week of march

exactly...like Rangers fans didn't notice this by about 5 minutes into the first game of the season with Torts behind the bench.

So Torts was just experimenting with some new lines on the opening faceoff against New Jersey.
Oh, and Lets Go Pens! I still don't think they're going to beat out the Rangers, but it'll be fun if they make them sweat a little.

How about a little love for the LA Kings. They seem to have found a way to come back from the dead

They will be up NY's tuchas for the remainder...I hope.
I am afraid they are so hot they could pass them. But at least it's not life and death every game to get in this year

I actually always liked those, thoughI'd say some of that is "time and place". I was a kid, was a big Rogie Vachon fan....

On our third date, I took my girlfirend (now wife) to Rangers-Kings playoff game. She became an instant fan and now (30+years later) watches or attends every Flyer game (now that we live in Philly).
BTW Esposito scored the winning goal in OT

He's luckier than Tom Renney who's changing Oiler's diapers.

This must be Larry Brooks making something out of nothing.....Torterella knows what he's doing....I really like the Boyle, Prust , Fedetenko line but let's be honest they are not exactly fleet of foot... the Red Wings are a really good skating hockey club...Torts did what he had to do and lets not forget....it worked...the Rangers won the game...

He was a good goalie, but I loved the way his name just kind of rolled out. Rogatien Vachon.

At least they have a new picture up there for Torts.

absolutely. I used to love watching games from the Forum, and the PA announcer made everyone sound like a member of Le` Resistance. Guy Lafleur, Guy LaPointe, Jacques Lemaire... even Steve Shutt sounded french when he said it.
