RGIII's arm stronger than Luck's?

07:28 AM ET 03.23 | Yesterday we saw much of Robert Griffin III's pro day workout on the NFL network. Today we have seen Andrew Luck going through his Pro Day at Stanford. How do they compare? It can be difficult to do a fair comparison because they didn't work out under the same conditions. At Baylor, the pro day was done at an indoor practice facility under perfect conditions. Ideal temperature, no wind. Stanford's workout was outdoors with cool temperature and moderate to strong wind.In saying all of this I will say that RGIII has a better arm than Luck but not a significantly better arm. Luck's arm strength is more in line with Matt Ryan's. He has plenty enough arm strength to be a top QB in the league. Just remember, arm strength doesn't make the prospect -- it's how he plays the game.

Pro Day's mean nothing. Tod McShay said the most impressive pro day he has ever seen, was featuring Jamarcus Russell.... Word.

Luck has better mechanics, but 3's mechanics are still fine. 3 is more athletic, but Luck is still plenty athletic enough. Both are elite prospects. Compare all you want, you still won't go wrong with either.

Kyle Boller could throw a football 55 yards from his knees. Means nothing. Unless you're Brian Billick.

I would take RG3 over luck. He has a better arm and has a very good set of wheels.

Another re-run thread.

I'm surprised they aren't comparing him to Tebow.

And Mike Vick could throw it into the seats behind the end zone from the other 30yd line.......

RGIII will sell more tix in Indy than Luck will be able to. It will be more of a financial decision come draft day than a talent decision.

March 23, 2012  08:29 AM ET

Ryan Leaf had a strong arm ... accuracy and decision making are far more critical than having a cannon of an arm ... as most of the successful QBs in the NFL today demonstrate.

March 23, 2012  08:57 AM ET

Without a side by side comparison this means nothing, both are excellent prospects.

Luck is going first, everyone knows it and he should.
The question is, if Matt Barkley were in this draft would RG go second or third?

March 23, 2012  09:04 AM ET

Read a comment that RG III had a great pro day and should be the number one pick. Then read that Luck completed 56 of 58 passes in his pro day. Apparently Luck isn't that good afterall. LOL

Hail to the Redskins!

Or, would Luck or Barkley go first.

My uncle Rico could throw the ball over the mountains in Idaho.

LMAO!!!!!

If ONLY coach would have put him in 4th quarter...they'd have been state champs

Well, yeah, but could he do it at sea level?

Barkley would be third. I've seen him play since high school and his athleticism is nowhere near III's. He's a very good pro-style QB though, probably the best USC has produced in years and years.

Then, again, the some franchises might go for him instead of III out of sheer stupidity. Certainly SF did it with Smith over Rodgers.
