Forte's feelings hurt again

06:45 AM ET 03.23 | The arrival of Michael Bush likely means the end of Marion Barber, the goat of the Broncos' loss whose biggest contribution as a Bear was to Tebowmania. Bush signed a four-year, $14 million contract with $7 million in guarantees, a reasonable insurance rate considering Matt Forte missed the final four games last season with a knee injury. Forte's knee has healed, but apparently now his feelings are hurt. "There's only so many times a man that has done everything he's been asked to do can be disrespected! Guess GOOD GUYS do finish last," Forte tweeted.

March 23, 2012  07:02 AM ET

Poor guy they be not showin no respect for his skillz.

March 23, 2012  07:08 AM ET

A thick skin is not his Forte. I need to go back to bed.

March 23, 2012  07:31 AM ET

Forte just needs a hug.

And THAT should be that for MBIII...

Pobrecito!

March 23, 2012  08:19 AM ET

and Bill Bellicheck starts to salivate.....

March 23, 2012  08:29 AM ET

why don't they just sign him... I'm thinking they never will... they will run him into the ground this year then let him walk... Bush is a beast and can match him in the run game for sure - they would just have to pick up a 3rd down scat back after forte walks...

Not out of the question. Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis signed with the Bungles. His new money won't buy happiness, or a ring.

I wish Forte and the Bears could reach an agreement. Barring that, Bush should be a good insurance policy against a Forte injury... or a hold-out. I'd love to know how far apart the two sides are on $$$$$.

March 23, 2012  09:11 AM ET

The bears tag him this year for that $7.7 million and then they can tag him next year again for about the same money.
That would be the same money they just bave Bush, only all guaranteed.
That is what will happen. Forte, nor any NFL player , has the option of holding out anymore.

March 23, 2012  09:15 AM ET

Once the ink dries on the contract bygones will be bygones. It's just business.

March 23, 2012  09:16 AM ET

Unfortunate. If Matt coulld string together a few injury free seasons this would be a non topic.

It's a business, and it is Forte's problem that he is not in a position to do anything about it.

"There's only so many times a man can be disrespected"

Not true. There's always one or two more times

March 23, 2012  09:51 AM ET

This guy must be Cedric Bensons brother or something. The 'always bitching brothers'. Is there anything these two don't complain about. Not enough carries, no respect, not enough pay.

Guess he figured last year was the Pats last gasp

His feelings are hurt because he knows he just became the backup. Bush is a monster, and as a Raiders fan, I wish we would have kept Bush and let the Bears have Darren McFootInjury.

Bush got $14 million, with $7 million guaranteed. Forte will get $7 million and change for 2012. He should get a deal somewhere between Foster and Lynch ones, so about $36 million for four years with about half that upfront. As they always do, the Bears are dicking the guy around and showing no class for a player who plays his heart out every down he's in there. In another franchise where the owners actually have some class and relationship with the players, Forte would be taken care of right. So I'd be pissed if I were him, too. McCaskey Bears = no class whatsoever.
