09:27 AM ET 03.23 | Free agent tight end Jeremy Shockey continued to vent his displeasure with NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp and the league in general over accusations that he was an informant in the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal that resulted in extensive penalties for the team. Shockey continued to emphatically deny he said anything to the league and communicated that directly with Saints coach Sean Payton on Thursday. Shockey said he has not been contacted by anyone with the NFL regarding its apparent violation of league policy that whistleblowers not be identified. "Is the league going to come down on their own people when someone does something so wrong and outrageous?" Shockey said. "There should be a standard for punishment, like getting suspended or fined or losing your job. If I say something about officials, the league fines me."

He was actually a fairly productive piece to a top 7 offense last year in Carolina...

And he's right about this...you can't slander someone's name with no recourse. This is just more shock tv by Warren Sapp who runs his mouth like loose bowels week after week.

I agree with Shockey being a tool, but it's Sapp who talked himself into a corner on this one. If Shockey was not the informant, then Sapp needs to make a public apology, and keep his pie hole closed about the matter; I'm sure he'd be the first guy to blame his sources, but in his position, Sapp ought to know that an accusation like that is a serious one, and shouldn't be handled lightly. If Shockey was indeed the informant, then there are laws in place to protect "whistleblowers" from anything that could be considered a retaliatory action. And Sapp is technically an employee of the league; he could find himself out of a job if he's not careful.

Sapp is a horrible pig on the BBQ cook off show too...

Frankly, I didn't know Sapp was on the NFL network. After seeing him flop on a Comedy Central Roast of Larry the Cable Guy , I couldn't watch another minute of him.
